Uyku insan hayatının en temel fizyolojik ihtiyaçlarından biridir. Yeni doğmuş bir bebeğin 18 saate kadar uyuma ihtiyacı varken yaş büyüdükçe toplam uyku süresi ve sayısı giderek azalmaktadır. Yaşamımızın üçte biri uykuda geçmesine rağmen literatürde çocukların yaklaşık %30’unun uykuya başlama ve/veya sürdürme gibi sorunlar yaşadıkları belirlenmiştir.
