The purpose of aggregating rubber is to increase concrete’s flexibility, elasticity, and
capacity to absorb energy. In some application of concrete, it is desired that concrete
should have low unit weight, high toughness and impact resistance. Although
concrete is the most commonly used construction material, it does not always fulfill
these requirements. In order to improve elastic properties of concrete and recycle the
waste materials, new applications have been realized recently. One of these
applications is the utilization of discarded tires in order to use together with
aggregate. ...Daha fazlası
This thesis presents both control of mobile robots that can move by using collective motion algorithm and simulation of the robots during the motion. The orientation of the robots was controlled remotely by one user during the collective motion. The transmission of orientation data from the remote controller to the robots was done by using XBee modules. The control algorithm of collective motion was developed by using individual-based model. Two modes are considered during the control. These modes are search and swarm mode.
The collective motion was performed by robots that are moving with re ...Daha fazlası
THE EFFECT OF PULSED ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS FOR IN VITRO WOUND HEALING EXPOSURE SYSTEMS
SUMMARY
Electromagnetic fields have achieved important role as stimulator and therapeutic facility in biology and medicine (Blank & Findl, 2013). The effects of low magnitude, low frequency pulsed electromagnetic fields have been a period of study since past few decades, which was mainly on the treating soft tissue injuries, skin ulcers, nonuniform bone fractures and degenerative nerve healing (Hug & Röösli, 2012b). Chronic wounds are a major healthcare problem for patient morbidity and contribute signi ...Daha fazlası
DEVELOPING A NEW UTERINE MANIPULATOR (TRANSVAGINAL UTERUS AMPUTATION DEVICE) FOR TOTAL LAPAROSCOPIC HYSTERECTOMIES IN GYNECOLOGICAL SURGERIES
SUMMARY
Hysterectomy, that is removal of uterus, is one of the most common major operations in gynecologic surgeries. Laparoscopy technique is preferred in hysterectomy because of its advantages such as lower intra-operative blood loss, decreased surrounding tissue/organ damage, less operating time, lower postoperative infection and frequency of fever, shorter duration of hospitalization and post-operative returning time to normal activity. Firstly u ...Daha fazlası
ASSESSMENT OF REAL ESTATE OWNERSHIP ISSUES IN URBAN REGENERATION PROJECTS IN TURKEY SUMMARY Illegal settlements, urban sprawl and old urban areas can be transformed into livable spaces with urban regeneration projects. Especially because of the earthquake risk and its low quality building stock, Turkey is one of the countries where implementation of those projects is vital. However, real estate ownership problems experienced at the beginning of the urban regeneration projects hinder implementations of the projects. Therefore, identifying and eliminating those problems can help carry out the pr ...Daha fazlası
This study was performed to determine the concentrations
of some trace metals (Cd, Cu, Pb, Ni, Zn, and Fe) in
Holothuria tubuosa (Gmelin, 1788) belonging to Echinoderm
species and in sediments that they live at three different stations
(Gelibolu, Umur Bey/Lapseki, and Dardanos) on
Dardanelles Strait between April 2013 and March 2014. The
mean trace metal concentrations determined in H. tubulosa
and sediment were as follows: Cd 0.18 mg/kg, Cu 2.43 mg/
kg, Pb 2.09 mg/kg, Ni 14.58 mg/kg, Zn 16.86 mg/kg, and Fe
73.46 mg/kg and Cd 0.70 mg/kg, Cu 5.03 mg/kg, Pb
14.57 mg/kg, Ni 27.15 mg/kg, ...Daha fazlası
Destinations are most attractive for the tourists with their unique cultural
elements and food is a substantial amount of the unique local identity. Therefore,
food tourism has always been a very important aspect of the destination and tourists
have always been eager to try unique tastes of the culinary culture in the destination
they are visiting. In this thesis study, the concepts of food tourism and food tourists
are explained in detail and their importance in the context of destinations is
mentioned with concrete reasons.
On the other hand, the industrial revolution, which took plac ...Daha fazlası
This study investigated Holothuria tubulosa, Gmelin 1791 in the Dardanelles Strait from April 2013 to March 2014, in order
to outline the morphological characteristics, reproductive patterns and the relationship between population characteristics and
environmental parameters. 15 to 30 individuals of this species were sampled monthly at three stations. There was a negative allometry
between length and weight, with gutted weight being the most reliable measurement for this species. The reproductive
patterns of the species were identified for the first time for examples from the Turkish coast ...Daha fazlası
The levels of heavy metals viz., Cd, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb, Zn and Al were determined by ICP-AES in the
muscles and total bodies of Mullus barbatus (Linnaeus 1758), Trachurus trachurus (Linnaeus 1758),
Engraulis encrasicolus (Linnaeus 1758) captured from the coast of Sinop. The order of the levels of
the heavy metals in the total fish samples was Fe > Zn > Al > Pb > Cu > Ni > Cd, whereas in the
muscles, the order was Zn > Fe > Cu > Al > Pb > Ni > Cd. The experiment results are discussed by
comparison with literature values.
Scorpionfish (Scorpaena porcus) is a demersal fish
species commercially important for its of which meat is tough
and delicious. The aim of this study was to determine heavy
metal (Al, Cu, Ni, As, Cd, Hg, Pb, U) concentrations in this
fish species which is traditionally consumed in the Black Sea
Area and, to compare the concentrations of various toxic elements
in different organs of the fish specimens (muscle, liver,
gill, and skin). Within this scope, the mineralization was performed
using microwave digestion system. Thirty-two scor
pionfish caught from Sinop Inland Port during 2010 w ...Daha fazlası
Cellulose is the most abundant organic polymer on earth. It is naturally regenerated by forests and cotton plantations with a speed of 10 billion metric tons per year regularly. Not only its natural reproduction makes it ecologically beneficial but also its biological degradability makes cellulose an ‘eco-friendly material’. Applications of cellulose is limited due to its insolubility in water. Contrarily, its water-soluble derivatives, especially cellulose ethers, are found in nearly all the products we are using in our daily life.
Although cellulose is the main raw material for producing ce ...Daha fazlası
