Evaluation of root resorption following rapid maxillary expansion using cone-beam computed tomography

ASLI BAYSAL | MEHMET İRFAN KARADEDE | İLKNUR VELİ

Objective: To evaluate the root resorption after rapid maxillary expansion (RME) via cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: Records of 25 patients who had undergone RME with tooth-borne banded expander were obtained from the archive of the orthodontic department. CBCT data were reconstructed with surface and volume rendering, and the volumetric images were manipulated to display the root surfaces from various orientations. On these three-dimensional images, permanent first molars and first and second premolars were segmented, and their roots were isolated. Volumes ...Daha fazlası

Design and Development of a Compound Mobile Serial Robot with Remote Control Application

Alpay Toprak

The design of a compound mobile serial robot controlled remotely by a C# program utilizing the MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) protocol is the main topic of this thesis. The robot is powered by a Raspberry Pi. The advantages of mobility and serial manipulators are combined in the compound mobile serial robot, allowing it to carry out difficult tasks in a variety of settings. As the main computer, the Raspberry Pi gives the robot and its control application connectivity and processing capability. Data interchange and command execution are made possible by the integration of the MQTT ...Daha fazlası

Heavy Metal Accummulation in Muscles and Total Bodies of Mullus barbatus, Trachurus trachurus and Engraulis encrasicolus Captured from the Coast of Sinop, Black Sea

SANİYE TÜRK ÇULHA | MEHMET ÇULHA

The levels of heavy metals viz., Cd, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb, Zn and Al were determined by ICP-AES in the muscles and total bodies of Mullus barbatus (Linnaeus 1758), Trachurus trachurus (Linnaeus 1758), Engraulis encrasicolus (Linnaeus 1758) captured from the coast of Sinop. The order of the levels of the heavy metals in the total fish samples was Fe > Zn > Al > Pb > Cu > Ni > Cd, whereas in the muscles, the order was Zn > Fe > Cu > Al > Pb > Ni > Cd. The experiment results are discussed by comparison with literature values.

Making the Pixels Visible

Işıl Işık Mutlu

Websites are one of the most important components of the internet. We use web browsers every day to browse websites using the internet for searching for information, buying goods, reading news, following online lectures, interacting on social media, etc. When a website is opened, it contains many components that are too complex for an ordinary user to be aware of. By using third-party tracking cookies or pixels added for advertising or analytical purposes, ad networks can track the user on the web. As browser extensions that use filter lists became more successful at blocking cookies, follower ...Daha fazlası

Estimation of annual energy production of coupled vertical-axis wind turbines in a semi-complex terrain Eşli çalışan düşey eksenli rüzgar türbinlerinin yarı karmaşık bir sahadaki yıllık enerji üretiminin değerlendirilmesi

Başer, Ferhat Cem Ferhat Cem

ABSTRACTRecent research shows that the vertical-axis wind turbines (VAWTs) can provide up to 6 - 9 times more power generation in the same footprint area when they are sited in proper configurations in contrast to horizontal-axis wind turbines (HAWT). In order to site wind turbines in a field, it is necessary to do a wind resource assessment (WRA). This assessment provide important inputs for the placement, sizing and design detailing of the wind farm. In addition to the correct determination of the site, it is also critical to place the wind turbines in the most efficient way. When the necess ...Daha fazlası

Selçuk, Çağlar

ABSTRACTProgram The multifaceted and rapidly changing structure of the tourism industry has recently gained a different dimension with the contributions of technological developments. The concept of urban tourism, which is accepted as one of the oldest types of tourism, still constitutes an important part of today's tourist travels. As a tourist destination, cities have a much more diverse and accessible touristic resource than other alternative destinations. The interest in cities has ascended day by day thanks to this collective structure, and tourism professionals and local administrations ...Daha fazlası

A Novel, Nelder-Mead Optimization Approach, based on Neuro-regression modeling for the Energy Efficiency Parameters of End Milling Process

ŞEYDA İŞBİLİR

Global crises are increasing day by day due to the rapid depletion of energy supplies around the planet. One of the goals of engineering is to prevent this situation by developing innovative solutions to this rapid energy consumption that has disappeared in the world. A solution could be to reduce the energy consumption of the machines that are used during production. In this study, a new design technique based on the neuro-regression approach and non-linear regression modeling was offered as an alternative to Taguchi design to reduce energy consumption. Thus, a cutting parameter optimization ...Daha fazlası

The effect of pulsed electromagnetic fields for in vitro wound healing exposure systems

Gümüşay, Mehmet

THE EFFECT OF PULSED ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS FOR IN VITRO WOUND HEALING EXPOSURE SYSTEMS SUMMARY Electromagnetic fields have achieved important role as stimulator and therapeutic facility in biology and medicine (Blank & Findl, 2013). The effects of low magnitude, low frequency pulsed electromagnetic fields have been a period of study since past few decades, which was mainly on the treating soft tissue injuries, skin ulcers, nonuniform bone fractures and degenerative nerve healing (Hug & Röösli, 2012b). Chronic wounds are a major healthcare problem for patient morbidity and contribute signi ...Daha fazlası

Influence of soft drinks on dental enamel: An in vitro study

EBRU KÜÇÜKYILMAZ | | | |

This in vitro study was to evaluate the erosive potential of four soft drinks at different times on bovine teeth by profilometry. Bovine incisors buccal side was sectioned with a diamond saw and a total of 100 enamel blocks were prepared (8 × 4 × 0.5 mm). Five specimens each were exposed to 60 ml of soft drinks (Sprite, Coca Cola, Cappy-orange and Ayran) for 15, 30, 60, 120 and 180 minutes in a continuously vibrating soft drinks bath in a beaker at room temperature. Surface loss of the specimens was determined with a profilometry. The data were analyzed by two-way analysis of variance and Tuke ...Daha fazlası

Detection of dyes in water using smartphone technology for environmental sustaınability

Kocakuşak Özdemir, Gizem

The goal of this thesis is to develop the applicability of an ultra-low cost, field-deployable, plastic fiber based smartphone spectrometer system to study dye adsorption from water. A custom cradle using smartphone’s built-in flash and camera was designed for visible absorbance spectroscopy without any need for external electrical components. We firstly investigated the performance of smartphone spectrometer for methylene blue (MB) absorbance in water with a detection limit of 0.5 ppm, and compared it to that of a commercial spectrometer. We elaborated on the contribution of image formats to ...Daha fazlası
