Artificial Intelligence Based Android Assistant for Colorimetric Detection

Vakkas DOĞAN

A colorimetric analysis is a technique that measures the properties of the substance using color changes in chemical or biochemical analysis. It is vital in analysing biological, medical, and environmental samples in many fields, such as the food, medicine, cosmetics, and paint industries. Colorimetric analysis requires correct measurement and calibration techniques to obtain accurate results.

A case study on PV-aided net zero-energy building: the daycare in IKCU

Loic Rebnodji DJANA

At the core of our growing societies, energy supply stands as one of the major concerns today, and it will be an inevitable challenge for our near future. As the nations are looking to find solutions for the transition from fossil fuels – depleting at a high rate – to alternative energy sources, solar energy through PV cells is getting attention as an affordable and easily implemented option especially for power supply in commercial and residential buildings.

Development of Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube-Based Flexible Screen-Printed Disposable Electrodes for Sensor Applications

Submitted to the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of

Millions of people worldwide suffer from diabetes and diseases caused by diabetes. As a result of the statistical studies carried out by the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of people suffering from diabetes was 108 million in 1980, then it was increased to 422 million in 2014. Diabetes is increasing rapidly, particularly in underdeveloped and developing countries and it was predicted that 1.5 million people died because of it only in 2019 (WHO, 2021).

Controlling the Motion of Capillary Driven Interfaces in Channels with Chemical Heterogeneity

Mehmet Alptuğ Boylu

The use of self-driven fluids (e.g., droplets, capillary flows) attracts many researchers as the external driving mechanisms are diminished or eliminated. The contact angle hysteresis generates a driving force (a pressure difference across interfaces). This pressure depends on the interaction with the solid substrates and is controlled if one varies the surface energy of the walls. Self-transport and manipulation of interfaces play an important role in the development of microfluidic devices, self-cleaning, water harvesting and heat transfer enhancement. In this study, we search for the effect ...Daha fazlası

Dynamics of Axisymmetric Drops Impacting onto Heterogeneous Surfaces

Atalay SEÇER

The way a droplet behaves when it lands on a surface depends on the characteristics of the surface and the flow conditions of the droplet. It can deposit, rebound, splash, etc. There is delimited research on how surface roughness and chemical composition affect the deformation of droplets upon impact, in comparison to the studies done on smooth surfaces. Our model uses two-phase flow to simulate the axisymmetric motion of droplets over surfaces with heterogeneities by combining the Navier-Stokes equations for motion with the Cahn-Hilliard equation for tracking the phase-field. We integrate the ...Daha fazlası

Printed Circuit Board Coil Based Electromagnetic Actuator Design For Micro/Milliscale Manipulation

Erdem Doguş AKKUŞ

Trends in nano and micro technologies have directed researchers' concern towards designing small-scale functional systems, i.e., MEMS, NEMS, etc. This study represents a design and implementation scheme for a class of small-scale actuators. Electromagnetic actuators currently used have disadvantages in small-scale applications since they cannot be produced in the desired sizes and compactness due to complex components. Using printed circuit board (PCB) based design strategies, scalable actuators can be produced in a smaller form factor and at a lower cost. The study aims to produce planar PCB ...Daha fazlası

Geometrical Optimization of Dimpled Double-Pipe Heat Exchangers for Nanofluid-based Natural Circulation Loops Operating at Lower Temperatures

Nur Çobanoğlu

Excessive use of global energy sources causes negative environmental impacts and a reduction in the available energy resources. Therefore, energy efficiency is the main scope of engineering studies. Since household refrigeration accounts for a large portion of the energy consumption rate in buildings, several innovative techniques have been developed to improve the energy efficiency of vapor compression refrigeration systems. Suction line heat exchangers are considered one of these techniques and they are used to avoid the presence of liquid at the compressor and to prevent sweating on the suc ...Daha fazlası

Estimation of Building Height from ICESat-2/ATLAS and Airborne LiDAR Data Using Machine Learning Algorithms

Aslıhan Yücel

The height of buildings in cities are of critical importance to urban planning and sustainable growth, as these factors are closely linked to environmental, economic, social, and aesthetic elements that shape the structure and character of cities. The main purpose of this study is to calculate building heights using machine learning algorithms based on airborne LiDAR and ICESat-2 data in urban areas. Sub-objectives of the study to achieve the main objective are: (a) investigate the relationships between spaceborne and airborne LiDAR data and integrate the data, (b) investigate the performance ...Daha fazlası

Classification of Hand Gestures Using Time-Frequency Analysis and Different Artificial Intelligence Methods

Deniz Hande Kısa

Hand gesture-based systems are one of the most effective technological advances. Surface electromyography (sEMG) is utilized as a popular input data for gesture classification with elevated accuracy and advanced control capability. In this thesis, which is based on the classification performance of Hilbert-Huang spectrum (HHS) images obtained from Hilbert Huang Transform (HHT) of the sEMG of the gestures, an evaluation of the results of artificial intelligence (AI) methods on hand gesture classification using HHS image is presented.
