Modeling and Design Optimization to Determine the Mechanical Properties of a Recent Composite

Naciye Burcu KARTAL

This study proposes an appropriate optimization model for determining a new composite material's mechanical properties by neuro-regression analysis. This new composite material is obtained by combining hemp and polypropylene fibers. It was developed for the sector of upholstered furniture. First, different multiple regression models have been tried for input and output values. The R2 training, R2 testing, R2 validation, and minimum, maximum values were determined for each model. Then, the stochastic optimization approach is used to predict and optimize the mechanical properties of the new bioc ...Daha fazlası

Mandibular anterior bony support and incisor crowding: Is there a relationship?

İLKNUR VELİ

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study was to test the null hypothesis that increased irregularity of the mandibular incisors is associated with a reduction in the alveolar support on cone-beam computed tomographic sections. METHODS: From a sample of 1100 digital volumetric tomographs, 125 tomographs of subjects with Class I malocclusion (mean age, 21.6 ± 4.8 years) were selected for this study. An irregularity index was used to categorize these tomographs as having mild, moderate, or severe crowding. All tomographs were taken by using an iCAT (Imaging Sciences International, Hatfield, Pa) ima ...Daha fazlası

Effect of resveratrol on bone formation in the expanded inter-premaxillary suture: early bone changes

TANCAN UYSAL

Objective –The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of local resveratrol (RSVL) administration on bone formation in response to expansion of the interpremaxillary suture, in rats. Material and Methods – Twenty 50- to 60-day-old male Wistar rats were separated into two equal groups. Both groups were subjected to expansion, and 30 cN of force was applied to the maxillary incisors with helical-spring. Twenty-four hours after appliance placement, single-dose 10 lmol ⁄ kg RSVL in the dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) was injected to the inter-premaxillary suture in the experimental group. In ...Daha fazlası

Comparison of craniofacial morphology, head posture and hyoid bone position with different breathing patterns

TANCAN UYSAL

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate differences in craniofacial morphology, head posture and hyoid bone position between mouth breathing (MB) and nasal breathing (NB) patients. Methods: Mouth breathing patients comprised 34 skeletal Class I subjects with a mean age of 12.8 ± 1.5 years (range: 12.0–15.2 years). Thirty-two subjects with skeletal Class I relationship were included in the NB group (mean 13.5 ±1.3 years; range: 12.2–14.8 years). Twenty-seven measurements (15 angular and 12 linear) were used for the craniofacial analysis. Additionally, 12 measurements were evalu ...Daha fazlası

Measurements from conventional, digital and CT-derived cephalograms: a comparative study

ASLI BAYSAL

Objective: The purpose of this retrospective radiographic study was to determine the reliability and reproducibility of skeletal and dental measurements of lateral cephalograms created from a computerised tomography (CT) scan compared with conventional and digital lateral cephalograms. Methods: CT and conventional lateral cephalograms of the same patients were obtained from university archives. The lateral cephalometric radiographs of 30 patients were manually traced. The radiographs were subsequently scanned and traced using Dolphin Imaging software version 11 (Dolphin Imaging, Chatswort ...Daha fazlası

Ethnic differences in the soft tissue profiles of Turkish and European–American young adults with normal occlusions and well-balanced faces

ASLI BAYSAL | TANCAN UYSAL

The aim of this study was to evaluate soft tissue differences between Turkish and North American adults by comparing two sample populations with ideal occlusion and well-balanced faces. Lateral cephalometric radiographs of 117 Anatolian Turkish adults (65 female and 52 male, mean age: 23.9 ± 2.8 years) were compared with a sample of 116 adults of European–American ancestry (64 female and 52 male, mean age: 25.0 ± 6.8 years). The cephalometric analyses of Holdaway, Epker, and Legan and Burstone were performed using Dolphin Image Software 9.0. Thirty-two measurements (27 linear and 5 angular) we ...Daha fazlası

Turkish Character Usage in Text Classification

Ali Aycan KOLUKISA

Abstract This study is prepared to examine the effects of Turkish character usage on text data by using multiple classifiers. Regression Classifiers, SVM, NB-Classifiers, and ANN are frequently used in supervised learning methods, especially in classification problems. Regression classifiers generally come in two types: as Linear and Logistic. There are also more than one type of Naive Bayes classifier. In our study, after mentioning the properties of Linear Regression and Logistic Regression classifiers in general terms, why Logistic Regression is much more suitable for this study is explaine ...Daha fazlası

Usul As a Musical Idea: The Case of The Usul Zencir

SERKAN ÇELİK | CEM ÇIRAK

Evaluating the fundamental components of traditional Turkish music, particularly the concepts of "usul" (rhythmic composition) and "makam" (musical mode), as well as their significance in the composition and performance of works, has been a focus not only in musical practice but also in academic music studies. Nevertheless, certain issues pertaining to the functional analysis of rhythms, especially the larger rhythmic cycles, such as what they inherently represent in musical reality, how they are utilized, comprehended, and what roles they play in the composition and performance processes, hav ...Daha fazlası

Modeling and optimum design for wire electrical discharge machining of γ titanium aluminide alloy

ÖMER FARUK BÜYÜKYAVUZ

Wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) of γ titanium aluminide is the subject of the current research. Due to the large number of process variables and sophisticated stochastic process mechanisms, selecting the best machining parameter combinations for increased cutting efficiency and accuracy is a difficult task in WEDM. In general, there is no perfect combination that can produce the fastest cutting speed and the finest surface finish quality at the same time. For this purpose, the data were selected from a literature study. This study describes an attempt to devise a suitable machining ...Daha fazlası
