Effects of modified and conventional facemask therapies with expansion on dynamic measurement of natural head position in Class III patients

TANCAN UYSAL

Introduction: The aim of this prospective clinical trial was to assess the effects of varying force directions on the dynamic measurement of natural head position and orofacial airway dimensions of Class III patients during maxillary orthopedic protraction compared with an untreated control group. Methods: The conventional facemask group comprised 15 patients (8 girls, 7 boys; mean age, 9.6 6 1.3 years), the modified facemask group comprised 15 patients (7 girls, 8 boys; mean age, 9.5 6 1.5 years), and the control group comprised 15 subjects (7 girls, 8 boys; mean age, 9.8 6 1.6 years). Ethnic differences in dentofacial relationships of Turkish and Saudi young adults with normal occlusions and well-balanced faces

TANCAN UYSAL

Objectives: The aims of the present study were (1) to determine ethnic differences in craniofacial dimensions between Turkish and Saudi populations and (2) to identify possible gender differences between males and females, based on a sample of untreated young adult subjects with normal occlusions and well-balanced faces. Methods: In total, 163 cephalometric radiographs were traced and evaluated to compare untreated adults of Turkish and Saudi ethnicity. The Turkish group comprised 86 subjects; 45 females and 41 males. The Saudi group comprised 77 subjects; 39 females and 38 males. For st ...Daha fazlası

An In Vitro Comparison of Different Diagnostic Methods in Detection of Residual Dentinal Caries

EBRU KÜÇÜKYILMAZ

The aim of this study was to investigate the efficiency of different diagnostic methods in detection of residual dentinal caries in excavated cavities. Fifty extracted molar with deep dentinal carious lesions were excavated using a slow-speed handpiece. All cavities were assessed by laser fluorescence(LF) device, electronic caries monitor(ECM), and caries detector dye(CDD) by three independent observers blindly. The measurements were repeated after two weeks. Specimens containing dentin slices 150 μm in thickness were prepared for histological analyses. The existence and absence of car ...Daha fazlası

Treatments of horizontal root fractures: four case reports

EBRU KÜÇÜKYILMAZ

Horizontal root fractures are rare in comparison to other types of injuries and the reported prevalence in the literature is between 0.5% and 7%. The treatment and prognosis of root fractures depend on many variables, the most important being the length of time between trauma and treatment, degree of dislocation and mobility, site of fracture, fixation period, stage of root development, age of patient, and quality of treatment. The ideal healing type is hard tissue healing. The aim of these case reports is to present four different patients who had horizontal root fractures of imma ...Daha fazlası

Influence of soft drinks on dental enamel: An in vitro study

EBRU KÜÇÜKYILMAZ | | | |

This in vitro study was to evaluate the erosive potential of four soft drinks at different times on bovine teeth by profilometry. Bovine incisors buccal side was sectioned with a diamond saw and a total of 100 enamel blocks were prepared (8 × 4 × 0.5 mm). Five specimens each were exposed to 60 ml of soft drinks (Sprite, Coca Cola, Cappy-orange and Ayran) for 15, 30, 60, 120 and 180 minutes in a continuously vibrating soft drinks bath in a beaker at room temperature. Surface loss of the specimens was determined with a profilometry. The data were analyzed by two-way analysis of variance and Tuke ...Daha fazlası

Technical investgation for the use of textile waste fiber types in new generation composite plasters

Kalkan, Şevket Onur

Garment and textile production industry is one of the main sectors of our country. This sector is a major driving force in our developing economy. According to 2014 data, Turkey is the third country on textile export among the European countries. Besides, Turkey is the world's sixth largest garment exporter. With such a huge production power, in Turkey’s textile sector, waste and/or residual textile materials are composed depends on the large scale production, as in most of the other production sectors. Such waste materials in textile industry are the left materials from production stag ...Daha fazlası

Synthesis of imidazole derivatives and their binderless immobilization to fabric to load antibacterial properties

Mutlu, Nurgül

The compounds bonded with functional groups in textile materials carry the economical support material property. The complex and/or organic compounds with the desired properties can be immobilized into the textile materials by using the reactivity of hydroxyl groups of cellulose and the NH2 groups in wool. Most of commercially purchased silver salts show a rapid release of silver in water because of their ionic structure. For this reason, they exhibit high antibacterial activity but the short-term. N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes have the long-term antibacterial effects by releasing the ...Daha fazlası

Synthesis, characterizatıon and application of new organic electroactive molecules for photovoltiıc devices

PEDOT:PSS is with its acidic property solves the indium atoms from ITO and indium atoms diffuses in active layer in an organic solar cell. This event causes an decreasing in solar cell efficiency. In the same strategy, SAM molecules can be used as hole injection layer. On the other hand MoO3 can be used as anode buffer layer. In this thesis it is wanted to make SAM molecules have to not absorb visible range of solar spectrum for the efficient harvesting of solar energy by donor molecule. Otherwise the HOMO level of SAM molecule have to be between work function of ITO and HOMO level of donor mo ...Daha fazlası

A research on the development of International and Domestic banks in Afghanistan and their role in Afghanistan Economy

Ayamı, Masood

In this thesis the development of Afghanistan’s banking system and the role of domestic banks in the economy of Afghanistan has been researched. Moreover, the effects of banks and the banking system to business sector, financial sector and to private sector in the country have been handled. Most of banking system was dead over 25 years of war due to abnormal condition in the country. After the new regime, the development of banking systems takes a new look in 10 years across the global transaction. Thus, get the positive feedback in these years. This change also played a big role in Afgh ...Daha fazlası

The effect of RGD pertide on cell proliferation and vasculogenesis during microtissue formation

Yaralı, Ziyşan Buse

3D (Dimensional) microtissues are commonly used in regenerative medicine, medicine design, toxicology studies and advance cancer research. Microtissues which are constructed by this technique mimic natural in vivo condition and it stands for shifting form between in vitro studies and in vivo research. Scaffold-free microtissues produce own extracellular matrix and cells proliferate faster. However microtissue is used in vitro experiments, they mimic in vivo condition by producing own matrix. Recently, RGD peptides which are commonly used biomaterials consist of GRGDS sequences and it has acti ...Daha fazlası

OPTIMUM DESIGN OF ANTI-BUCKLING BEHAVIOUR OF THE LAMINATED COMPOSITES BY DIFFERENTIAL EVOLUTION AND SIMULATED ANNEALING ALGORITHMS

Akçair, Mehmet

Laminate composites can be used quite naturally in automotive, marine, aviation and other engineering branches. Determination of buckling load capacity under in-plane composite loads of composite plates is very important for the design of composite structures. In this thesis, Differential Evolution (DE) and Simulated Annealing (SA) are utilized for optimal stacking sequence of a laminated composite plate, which is simply supported on four edges and is subjected to biaxial in-plane compressive loads. The optimization problem parameters are defined as (i) Objective function: critical buck ...Daha fazlası
